Craigavon Park (Blockhouse Bay, Auckland, NZ)

The playground has been closed off for some time, as part as renovations, and only open a few weeks.  The new playground has definitely been a big hit with the locals; we’ve rarely seen it empty.  Auckland council have added a water play area, which my little mint adores.  She gets absolutely soaked through, but it’s worth it to hear her chuckle away.

The whole playground is fenced in, so I didn’t have to worry about my little mint wandering off into the road.

The general park area also has:

  • Car Park (Connaught Street)
  • Toilets (Portage Road)
  • Barbecues
  • Tables
  • Several fitness stations e.g. sit up benches
  • Walking tracks
  • Dog exercise areas

The park is within an easy walk to Green Bay beach and the West Auckland Community Toy Library.  If you need a bite to eat, the closest places are Blockhouse Bay (shops, cafes and restaurants) or Green Bay (bakery and the Zoom Espresso coffee shop).
