I was wondering what to write about today when my husband brought down our toddler. She’d gone to bed at her normal time, but decided that 10pm was a good time to wake up. She’s an awesome toddler, but her new teeth are making her a bit out of sorts.
I wanted to give her something to do (to help tire her out) without getting out noisy toys and waking up daddy. I decided to try making some play dough using the recipe below. I had one very happy toddler and she’s now sound asleep in bed.
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 cup salt
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/4 – 1/2 cup water
- Food colouring (I used yellow)
- Mix together the flour and salt
- Add the oil
- Add the food colouring
- Finally mix in enough water to get play dough consistency (not too sticky)
I’m not sure how long this will last, but I’ll try putting it in the fridge to extend its play life.
